Who is Moon Jelly?
Moon Jelly, often called Jelly, is a singer, songwriter, music producer and artist whose virtual persona is a deep-sea alien girl. Her work connects original recordings, illustrated music videos, cover songs and music made for other creators. The same identity links her personal website and YouTube channel; that connection is useful when looking for a musician with a name shared by other artists.
Her catalogue offers several ways in. Angler of the Deep introduces the character through an original song; Journey and Lost show the scope of her solo production; Maria Marionette's Theme takes the listener into music written for another VTuber. The credits change from project to project, and explain her career more clearly than treating every upload as the same kind of performance.
Original songs: Angler of the Deep, Journey and Lost
The July 2021 video for Angler of the Deep introduces an alien arriving from the sky. It credits Moon Jelly for the music, vocals, illustration, video and songwriting. The character's story and the recording belong to the same creative project: the alien setting is part of the fiction, while the production credits describe her work on the song.
Journey, uploaded in October 2022, again credits her across those five roles. Its description also offers vocal stems with a request for credit when they are used. For a reader interested in how a virtual musician builds a release, the song is therefore a useful entry into both the finished recording and the materials she chose to share around it; the link is not a blanket licence to reuse every part of the work.
The October 2024 release Lost carries the same broad solo credits. Placing these three works together reveals a recurring practice across several years: Jelly contributes to the sound and to the visual presentation of her own music. Their YouTube publication dates identify these videos, rather than proving that every streaming service released the songs on exactly the same day.
Composing Maria Marionette's theme
Maria Marionette's Theme, published in August 2022, is explicitly presented as BGM for NIJISANJI EN's Maria Marionette. Moon Jelly identifies herself as the composer and names FL Studio as the production software. The illustration is credited separately to とち, with thanks for permission to use it.
This is a different entry into her music from a vocal single: the piece belongs to another creator's character and broadcast setting. Readers can continue to Maria Marionette's profile for that performer's own work. A composition credit on Maria's theme establishes a creative connection; it does not make Moon Jelly a member of NIJISANJI or the same debut group as Maria.
Singing and mixing with Kaneko Lumi
The August 2022 Because I Love You / 好きだから duet brings Moon Jelly together with Kaneko Lumi. The original song is by Yuika. Both creators receive vocal credits, while Moon Jelly also receives the mix credit; はるふで is credited for the illustration and Neil for the video.
That division of work makes the recording a useful introduction to Jelly as a collaborator. It is a cover of another songwriter's work, with a two-singer performance and a production role for Jelly. Kaneko Lumi's own guide continues the listening route into Lumi's catalogue. Their shared recording does not imply that the two have the same management or that Lumi co-wrote the original song.
Peanut Allergy: lyrics and vocals in a shared production
Peanut Allergy, the 2024 release credited to Moon Jelly and Singto Conley, demonstrates another arrangement of responsibilities. Its description assigns production, composition and the music video to Singto Conley, lyrics and vocals to Moon Jelly, and illustration to Lunarah. It also connects the track to Conley's album …But You Must Live.
The contrast with Journey is instructive. On a solo recording Jelly can cover the music and visual production herself; here her named contribution is writing the words and singing them within a shared project. Someone discovering her through a featured vocal can follow the credits back into her solo songs, while a listener arriving from her VTuber videos can discover her wider music collaborations.
Covers: vocal interpretation, mixing and visual collaborators
The October 2024 Through Patches of Violet cover identifies Mili as the original artist. Moon Jelly is credited for vocals and mixing, KGhazir for illustration, and AiRo for the video. Jelly describes the project as a demanding and meaningful recording; its connection to Limbus Company comes through the song being covered.
It offers a complementary starting point to the originals. Listeners interested in her voice can begin with a familiar song, then compare the cover's team with the broader solo credits on Lost. An original music video accompanying a cover does not turn the underlying song into her composition, and recording music associated with a game does not itself establish an official commission from that game's publisher.
A character with a visual and production history
Her website's character reference section distinguishes design credits across 2019, 2021 and a 2024 reference sheet. It names Moon Jelly, みそて_る and 曖昧めい respectively, while listing the logo credit separately. These are design-history markers, not interchangeable debut dates.
The channel introduction brings the singer, composer and artist together under the same name. Together with the credits on her recordings, it helps explain why illustrations, videos and music all appear in her portfolio. A character's appearance, an illustration for one release and the creation of a complete music video can involve different contributors; the individual credits are the best guide to each work.

For a first listen, choose Angler of the Deep for the character concept, Journey or Lost for her own songs, Maria Marionette's Theme for instrumental composition, or the Lumi duet for collaboration. The guide to VTuber content formats explains how recordings, streams and other projects fit together, while affiliation types helps distinguish a shared work from agency membership.
